We are REBBL … a band of revolutionaries for the greater good, and we are proud to announce that we are officially a Certified B Corporation (B Corp), joining a world-wide community of more than 2,500 mission-driven companies in an effort to leverage business as a tool for good.
This certification solidifies a core part of our mission: to create positive social and environmental impact through our super herb powered coconut-milk elixirs. The secret ingredient in every bottle? Impact.
“Impact work is woven into the very DNA of our brand. The B Corp Certification holds validity and credibility to work we prioritize: fair labor practices, transparency in supply chain, regenerative business practices, and community empowerment.”
REBBL was founded by the nonprofit Not for Sale as a solution to address the root causes of human trafficking in the Peruvian Amazon, an issue that is inextricably linked to climate change, and the malfunctioning global food system.
“When you choose REBBL, you choose to support values that we stand for,” said Librado. “The impact of your purchase affects everyone involved in the supply chain, starting with the farmers, their families, and their communities. With each transaction, there’s a connection— that’s what makes REBBL special.”
By prioritizing impact sourcing of ingredients, we are able to create economic opportunity in communities, including those that may be at risk for exploitation. This, in turn, strengthens the community so they are less vulnerable to human trafficking. It also encourages communities to caretake the land, protecting the natural ecology and its resources against extraction and degradation by external parties that don’t share the same values.
About B Corp
The B Corp Certification recognizes a new kind of business, one that balances purpose and profit, upholding the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. B Corps promote a shift in global culture to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
What it Takes to Become a B Corp
Our status as a Certified B Corp cements our commitment to creating positive impact through the conscious decisions we make as a company. We are scored on 4 key areas:
- Governance (e.g. accountability & transparency)
- Workers (e.g. compensation & work environment)
- Community (e.g. diversity & community service)
- Environment (e.g. transportation & energy)
By joining the B Corp community, we are legally required to consider how our decisions affect everyone that make up the REBBL family: from our farmers and employees, to our suppliers and processors, to our customers and retailers, to all the communities we are a part of as well as global ecology we live in.
What’s Next for REBBL
While we are proud to be part of the Certified B Corp community, our impact efforts don’t end there. We recognize there are many opportunities to improve and we have our work cut out for us. This is only the beginning.
In the upcoming years, we will be focusing on many impact projects and initiatives including: engaging with suppliers on the ground level to promote regenerative agriculture, rethinking packaging and delivery of goods to reduce emissions, advocating for the Global Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, measuring impact and optimizing transparency to our consumers, developing Thrive projects, strengthening our storytelling to highlight the people and communities we work with, making progress on our Climate Collaborative commitments, and much more!
