Spell Your Name Workout

It’s the summer time which means you’re probably very busy. Maybe you have kids to take to fun events while they’re out of school, lunch dates spent catching up with friends or just plans to spend a lot of time outside in the sun.  It’s important to remember that a busy calendar doesn’t mean your fitness has to suffer.

What it does mean, though, is that you need to make your workout fit into your routine.

And, what fits you better than your own name?

The “Spell Your Name Workout” is a great way to get a calorie-torching, full-body workout under your belt before you start your day – and, it doesn’t take very long, requires minimal equipment, and is fun to do!  I love this routine to start my day, and I’ve found it gets you energized to tackle the busy day ahead!

Here’s how it works:

Each letter has a different exercise and repetitions number listed beside it. Simply perform each workout with the specific repetitions back-to-back to spell your name.  Try to keep the rest between exercises as minimal as possible so that you can really make the most of the workout!

If you have a short name (like Amy, for example) go through the full workout 2 or 3 times.

The asterisk beside some of the exercises indicates where you could swap in some items you probably have laying around your house if you don’t have access to dumbbells. Here are some ideas:

  • For exercises like bicep curls, rows, and shoulder presses, grab some canned goods as use them as dumbbells.
  • Don’t have a box for box squats? Use your couch!
  • Don’t have a barbell to do shoulder presses with squats? Grab your broom!

Now that you’ve got your workout in, it’s important to refuel your muscles. Without proper nourishment, your muscles won’t be able to fully recover, causing them to break down.  This is exactly the opposite of what we’re trying to do 😉
